Perfect Instant pot Quinoa

Here’s my method for perfectly cooked Instant pot Quinoa. With this easy method, your quinoa gets cooked with a beautiful fluffy texture, without much effort and honestly it is much easier than the stove top version.

I use quinoa extensively in place of rice. They go perfectly with Indian gravies and south Indian kuzhambu and rasams. A big batch of perfectly cooked instant pot quinoa in your referigerator can help you with your dinner and lunch prep in so many ways.

Add them to sauteed veggies and tadka to make south Indian style upma or make some chineese style fried rice. You can also add them to your burritos/ wraps, use them to make delicious burger patties or add them to your salads to make it more filling. There are just so many things that you can make with them.

I add some quinoa in place of rice in my little one’s kichdi everyday for some extra goodness. This nutritious whole grain is gluten free, has a low glycemic index and is a good source of protein, iron, calcium and amino acids.

Here are some quinoa recipes that you can make with these cooked quinoa:

  • Quinoa Upma
  • Quinoa chickpea salad

Perfectly cooked instant pot Quinoa

I use pot in pot method usually to cook plain rice and quinoa, especially if I am cooking for just the 3 of us. I feel it is easier to clean the IP this way and you can store the leftovers in the same vessel you cooked them in.

After experimenting with the timings and water, I have figured out the method to cook quinoa in the IP , just the way I like to eat them. This recipe can also be done directly in the Instant pot vessel. In that case, you just have to add the quinoa and water to the instant pot inner vessel directly and follow the instructions as given.

If you want to double this is it that simple or does the water amount reduce at all? So 1C quinoa and 2 C water in the smaller pot?

To doubtle it, 1 cup quinoa and 2 cups water. You can even get away with 1 & 3/4 cup water for the quinoa. I like the texture with 2 cups water. No need to increase the qty of water in the outer pot.
