Instant pot date syrup

This is an easy, fuss free recipe to satisfy your sugar craving with something natural and healthy. Dates are naturally sweet and though they are not sugar free, they are so much better than the processed and artificial stuff we all consume everday. This easy homemade Instant pot date syrup can be used in place of your sugar in your smoothies, porridges, oats, baked goods and even your morning coffee. They are delicious and have a slight caramely taste that I love. I used these organic dates from Amazon in this recipe.

I remember mom giving us “Lion dates syrup” when we were kids. She would make sure we have it everyday. There was this famous ad in TV at that time. Their selling point was that dates are a good source of calcium, vitamins, minerals and eating it everyday would make you very very strong. Yes, it was supposed to make you as strong as a lion! 😀  It was a bit exaggerated, but they are still very much healthier than your processed sugar. So if you are trying to satisfy your sweet tooth with something natural, then this is for you.

They are also super easy to make! Most of the recipes ask you to strain the pulp, but I decided not to do that here. I did not want to lose the nutrients, minerals and the fiber in it. I made this in the Instant pot and I cant believe how incredibly easy it is especially since I did not bother with straining it. I have been using it in my smoothies and morning oats and loved it so far. Here’s my super easy recipe for instant pot date syrup.

Ingredients
  • 1 cups pitted dates
  • 2 cups water
Instructions
  1. Add the dates to your IP. Make sure that they do not have any seeds in them. If they do, add them to the Ip after removing the seeds.

  2. Add the water and close the IP. Cook on manual high for 10 minutes and release pressure naturally.

  3. Blend everything using a hand blender or a high powered blender to a smooth paste. Add more water if needed to get it to a syrup consistency.

  4. Store in an airtight container and use for about a week to 10 days.
