Are you one of those people who end up eating most of the cookie dough from your mixing bowls? I am one of them! Cookie dough is one of my favorite things to eat and I have to keep reminding myself that the cookie dough is not the end product and that there is one more step in the process, ie to bake them to cookies.
So, I was thinking what would happen if we fried cookie dough? I sort of had fried Oreo cookies, fried cheesecakes, that we get in the state fairs/carnivals in mind. I decided to see if someone had tried this before and I found that quite a few people have had this idea. After looking at few of recipes, I came up with this recipe here!! I must say they are just delicious and easy to make. Cookie dough – yumm by itself and on top of it, you fry them!! What’s not to like about this recipe? 🙂 I have served this with raspberry sauce because for me “chocolate+raspberry”, is a match made in heaven!
And I just realized! This will be my 50th blog post 🙂 Yaay!
Ingredients:
For the cookie dough – (You can use a store bought cookie dough mix (or) make them)
For the batter
Method:
First make the cookie dough balls – Cream butter and sugar (white and brown) in a bowl until soft and fluffy. Then add the vanilla extract, egg and beat until well combined.
Combine flour and salt and add it to the wet ingredients until they are just combined.
Chill the dough for an hour or more. When chilled make balls of the dough and refrigerate again until you are ready to fry the balls.
Now make the batter – Add all the ingredients for the batter and mix well to make a smooth batter.
Heat oil in a frying pan in a medium flame.
Take cookie dough balls and dip it in the batter. I placed the balls in a fork and dipped it and tapped the fork to remove the excess dough.
When the oil becomes hot, add the coated balls (2-3 balls at a time) into the oil and fry until they are golden brown on all sides.
Serve warm with topping of your choice ( you can sprinkle some confectioner’s sugar, or drizzle some chocolate or raspberry sauce )
